Utility Supply in Leasehold flat

Hi Everyone,

I'm just about to exchange on my first property (new build leasehold flat).

In the lease it states that the electricity supply to the flat is managed by the landlord (freeholder/management company) and that rather than paying the electricity provider directly as normal, I pay the landlord each month instead.

Wondering if anyone has ever heard of or experienced similar? Seems odd to me since it means I have zero control over my provider and tariff. Also what's stopping the landlord from overcharging? Do they need to provide a statement each month showing usage / meter readings etc?

I have raised with my solicitor but they haven't really given much clarity up to now, hence looking for some opinions/advice. Thanks!
