Is there any actual communication in VOIP?

I came from Squad, I had more than 1000 hours in that game and there is always some sort of communication in that game. I thought it would be similar in HLL as well but I am heavily dissapointed... played for like 6h and had almost zero interactions with my team. Is that because it was free or is it just like that everywhere?
