Which local celebrities have you met?
I worked at Andy Bumatai's cell phone store in the early 2000's.
When Henry Kapono came to get a phone, I couldn't remember if he was Cecelio or Kapono until he completed his paperwork. I just told him Andy would want me to be sure to take care of him until I could figure out who he was!
Back in the 90's I worked in the City & County and was on call to Mayor Fasi. I used to drive to drop him off or pick him up. When he was in the van he always drove. It was funny to see people point at me and be disappointed the Mayor wasn't in the van.
I met Aunty Karen while giving parking tickets. I knew it was her car/van? because of the Karen license plate. I took my time and went the long way around the parking lot until she came back. She thanked me and I said I couldn't give Aunty Karen a ticket!
I knew Miss Hawaii's TIffani Hercules because I worked with her Mom and I once met one of her friends who I'm sure was a beauty pageant contestant or local model. I also met a Miss Hawaii (don't remember her name) from the late 90's because I worked for VoiceStream (pre T-Mobile) in the late 90's. I met Teresa Bringas (Miss Hawaii Teen) and when she picked up a copy job her parents had done at Officemax, I asked her, who's Teresa? since I recognized the name. And she said :"That's me!" Make "A". LOL I was surprised how tiny she is! I vaguely recall meeting Brook Lee, but don't remember the circumstances.
I also met my 60's/70's childhood crush Lynne Kimoto (Hawaii 5-0 and commercials) at Officemax and told her: "You're either Lynne Kimoto or look exactly like her!". She was obviously confused and acknowledged who she was. I almost confessed what I huge crush I had on her, but managed to restrain herself. Double Make "A"!
I used the same line on local model Jessica Wong who I knew because I saw here on some photographer's website. Like Lynne she seemed confused, though more so since she was just a small time model.
