Are we in over our heads and our weight?

My wife recently purchased a new Toyota Sequoia which has a Maximum towing capacity of 9010 lbs. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 7560 lbs. And Maximum payload of 1410 lbs.

We have a family that weighs less than 600lbs. Maybe less if I can get my overweight ass to the gym. We live in the Rocky Mountains and are looking to get out more.

We are in the market for a new travel trailer and my wife has a laundry list of things she wants. (Bunkhouse, couch, private bedroom, outdoor kitchen, etc). Which are all among the heaviest models.

The weights of models we are looking at are 1. Apex 289TBSS @ UVW 5,718 lb - GVWR 7,600 lb - HITCH WEIGHT 715 lb

  1. Ameri-Lite 274QB @ UVW 6,230 - GVWR 7,810 - Hitch Weight 840 lb

Are we biting off more than we can chew with these weights on these trailers? Are people really packing 1,500 lbs worth of stuff on a camping trip?

EDIT: Thank you all for your thoughts and opinions! We both have purchased new vehicles in the past year so trading them in for a bigger vehicle is not an option at this time. The new sequoia has a sticker with 7575 as the GVWR. GAVR FRT - 4080lbs and RR - 4410. This does have a standard tow package option but nothing additional added.

Looking at smaller TTs gives me even more questions. If UVW + CCC = GVWR, then all of the. End up being in the 6K to 7K range.

248BH Dry Weight - 3,899 +Net Carrying Capacity 3,601 which would put the GVWR at 7,400 lbs and we are back to where we started being over the weight.

261BHXL (thank you for the suggestion) UVW - 4,818 lb. CCC- 2,632 lb. GVWR - 7,450
