Games that you can enjoy just by watching the cutscenes/ lore videos/ reading the novels stand-alone
I need a break from actually playing gaming , at least long , focus required games like mass effect or halo ( I have ADHD and depression and am also dealing with school and family issues, and I’m burnt out). I’m probably still gonna play my roguelikes and sandboxes like Arma but anyway I still wanna immerse myself in related hobbies, such as reading novels and watching cutscene movies and related videos ( I’ve never been too worried about spoilers, and I prefer videos and books over most stealth and RPG gameplay, which are some of the genres with coolest stories)
What are some games that do and don’t work in novel or cutscene clip format without the context of having played the game ? For example I assume early assassins creed like II are fine to just read the book and watch a few clips without having played all of the game because the story is lmore linear and most of the AC books are direct adaptations of the plot, whereas Mass Effect has more choices and the novels are interquels and prequels mostly . So can anyone recommend some game settings where I can get a decent experience following related media such as books, comics and videos, as opposed to ones where I have to have played n the whole game to get any enjoyment.
I hope this is allowed here , basically I’m asking which games’ cutscenes and side material such as books can be enjoyed mostly standalone as opposed to only with the whole game, for when I’m burnt out on playing but still want something game related
