DOUBLE EDIT: HI GUYS. The Department of Education has confirmed that Federal Student Loans and Grants are safe. So don’t feel the need to freak out.

Hi everyone. Yesterday, reports came out that Trump and his administration ordered a pause, starting 5:00pm today on all Financial Grants, Loans and Assistance. It includes issuing new awards and the disbursement of new ones.

This may very well affect our loan and Pell Grants for the upcoming Fall semester and even this semester. As these funds are handled federally, sent to the school and then sent to us. This also affects any of us who are enrolled in programs such as SNAP, Rental Assistance and can affect payrolls.

Please make sure you’re keeping up. There is no timetable on when he will unpause it as this is a breach of the separation of powers and will cause major confusion. As always, stay informed and stay safe.
