Out of state but soon to be in-state
Update: GA state administrators replied back and told me yes I can apply for economic waiver given our situation. However my son got a scholarship that waived out of state tuition fees! So we are all set now. Thanks to everyone that replied to this thread and thanks for your guidance!
Go Panthers! (Or here we come, Panthers!)
My son got into GA state (yay!) - we are from out of state (WA) at the moment, but we (full family) will be moving into GA this summer. We already have a home bought. However me (his parent) who will be paying the tuition haven't yet moved my job address to GA yet... that happens in July this year. My understanding is that i would need to be a GA state income tax payer for at least 6 months before my son is eligible for instate tuition - hope i got that right.
My question is given i am so close to switching my job address and start paying GA taxes (expecting in July onwards and he starts college in August), can I request to be considered for instate tuition right in his first semester? Or any other strategies for saving some $ in this case? Any advice appreciated.
