Rog Ally X review: Frostpunk 2 gameplay
Picked up this game on release and I've been having a lot of fun. These images are from day 1 on the second campaign. Decided to make a review for my ally x homies. Gamepass version of the game.
Performance - The game takes a lot from the Rog Ally X. I ran it on Turbo 25 W. Vsync on and on balanced mode.
On high I had was getting around 17 - 21 fps, but when I switched to medium I was fluctating between 21-28 depending on the situation. Overall it's not a problem considering the type of game it is and it was not freezing or slowing down the game. I played just fine without issues. Personally I still lower my settings and graphics as its a small screen, since it does not look bad at all. I just want to play while conserving battery.
Looks and graphics - The game is stunning. It really brings back the feelings from the first Frostpunk game and adds on to it. The atmosphere is nice or I guess freezing considering the world, but hey no complaints for me. The environment feels realistic the variety of events that change the atmosphere.
The story and gameplay - I've really enjoyed what I've seen so far, the game has been fun and the gameplay is solid. I love the ability to explore the froze expanse. The Frostlands is one of my favourite aspects of the game. You're reclaiming part of the old world, gathering materials, building colonies, and finding survivors. It's not a basic click here explore this and you're done like most games. It's thought out, and I love how snow storms can really effect what you do.
The political aspect is fantastic. It's not a basic game where you just throw money or do basic things to get different political groups on board. Frostpunk 2 has a realism in the political aspect of the game and it makes it ever so more interesting, especially if you raise the difficulty.
Personal thoughts and opinion on the game - As someone who was a big fan of frostpunk, the second game delivered. I love the small pieces of information, the pop ups regarding the lives of the citizens, the council, and so much more. Maybe I'm biased but I dont really have a lot of complaints about the game. I'm excited for future dlc. My only comment to 11 bit studios is this game is heavy on my device. Give me patches and I'll offer you a cake.
All in all, I recommend getting this game if you have a rog ally. It's worth it. Oh and there is no controller support. Mouse and keyboard is where its at.
