Old dog new tricks.

36-year-old male in relatively good shape looking for advice from others that joined the fire service later in life. This is not so much a question but just me fishing for motivation from other people that join the fire service late in life. I’ve been working in construction for the better part of my life and I’m at the point now where I know I’m not getting any younger and I want to start doing something that matters. I read all the post about how from time to time the job isn’t fulfilling as most people think it is or as it feels in the beginning, but I have also seen enough feedback from other people in the fire service to know that this is what I’m wanting to do, going to the gym five days a week and going to enroll at my local community college for EMT/firefighter course in Sep. Just wanted to hear some stories of men and women that joined later in life. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
