Has anyone been harassed by commentors and lost all love for their fic before?

So I wrote several fics for a medium-sized fandom at AO3 for over a year now, and there was this one fic I wrote that gained a lot of attention from the fandom in terms of comments and kudos.

The problem? 95% of the comments in that fic were about people demanding that I update. "Update now or I'll kill myself", "Update or I'll end up crying", "When's the update?". Update, update, update. Every morning, there will always be one or two comments demanding for it.

I'm the type of writer that likes long comments and constructive criticism from my readers so I was excited to know how they thought about the fic, my writing and the overall content. Getting continuously harassed for updates on my fic just demoralized me from ever updating and I just...hid the fic.

Nowadays, I physically get nauseous every time I think about that fic and other negative physical reactions. It was that bad.

Is getting this harassed normal for fanfic authors?
