Repost cause nobody got it yesterday.
The answer is not:
- Dave
- Aladdin
- Face Off
- The Mask
- Megamind
- The Goonies
- She's The Man
- Meet Joe Black
- Some Like It Hot
- Any Shrek movie
- The Princess Bride
- Never been Kissed
- Don't Tell Her It's Me
- Any Superman movie
- Revenge of the Nerds
- 10 Things I Hate About You
EDIT: I'm noticing people repeating a ton of prior incorrect guesses here, so make sure to read the entire above list and all the comments before making your guess.
It is NOT:
- Shrek 2
- Roxanne
- Only You
- You've Got Mail
Some hints:
HINT 1: This movie was released after 2000.
HINT 2: It's a live-action movie, not animated. Not a romcom. Not a horror movie. Not a musical. It's also not a kids' movie.
HINT 3: The romance between this man and woman is not the main plot, but it does create the ending.
HINT 4: It's a stand-alone movie. It's not part of a series or a franchise.
And some more hints:
HINT 5: The male lead's actor was also in a 2010s Marvel movie.
HINT 6: It's not related to, but has a similar premise to a TV series that came out long before it did. One of the actors from that TV series has a cameo in this movie.
HINT 7: The movie takes place entirely in the USA.
EDIT:
I'll clarify the plot a little more, for those who think the clue is too generic.
The central plot of the movie involves a man literally stealing another man's identity. This is not him "faking it" and acting like a cooler version of himself, or just putting on a fake alias. He steals another man's name, appearance, career, etc and pretends to be him the whole way through.
The romantic gesture where he kisses the woman in front of a crowd is a large part of the movie's ending.
I hope someone gets it soon, so here's more hints:
HINT 8: It's not a comedy.
HINT 9: The main character is a military man.
HINT 10: Major plot points involve a wallet and a mobile phone.
