What do I do with bags of foremilk?
Trigger warning: "just enougher" at the moment with some days freezing 1-2 oz if I remember to drink a venti oat milk latte. My pumping/breastfeeding journey has spanned the not enough, just enough, over producer until my milk settled.
We just got back from traveling with a 6 month old and while traveling, my morning pumps were all foremilk. I'm not sure if it's stress, diet, bad pump settings, or D) all of the above but now I have ~36 oz of foremilk that I set aside. I know there's less fat in them and I didn't want to feed my baby with low fat milk while traveling - silly maybe but I needed him to sleep and he struggles with sleeping in his car seat.
Now I have these bags that will go bad in a few days and I'm not sure what to do. Should I give them to the baby during the days since I still feed every 3-3.5 hours? Save fatty night milk for bedtime routine? Should I mix the bagged fore milk with milk I pump today to kind of add fat back in? I really don't want to waste any milk and counting down the days I can put my pump in storage. Thanks all for any advice!!
