Should Focal seizures be considered as important as TC?

Backstory: I have a Periventricular Heterotopia and have only had one TC seizure, at around 14 years old. Yet for a few years before that I was having focal seizures (that I didn’t know were seizures at the time) and years after I am still having focal seizures. They come and go in frequency but recently have peaked in amounts.

As I said, I have been going a point through my past few months where focal seizures became very very frequent.. I know that focal seizures are seizure type but people seem to not take them as serious. My question is am I being dramatic about the incline in focal seizures? Along with the side effects that come with them… I think they have caused a huge disturbance in my daily life. Or. are they not that big of a deal because they aren’t TC?

Even my doctor said to me that because I am having focal seizures “ONLY” we shouldn’t change my meds. I was telling him I want to eliminate them because they are causing issues, but he doesn’t want to (at the same time he was implying that I am not taking my medication)

Side note: he told me that I wasn’t having as many as I thought because during a recent half hour EEG there was only one-one minute focal seizure.

I am so upset right now! I feel so alone!
