Pretty Sure I'm Not the A-Hole
I sat down at my LGS to play with a pod I've never played with before. The dude across for me (we'll call him Salty) said that he would like to play "fair magic", so "no combos or fast mana". I agreed wholeheartedly. I'm playing Halana and Alena, Partners as my commander.
I win the roll to go first. Here is how the game went - Turn one: land + manadork Turn two: land + Rhythm of the Wild (Salty blows up my RotW on his turn) Turn three: land + Beast Whisperer (another player kills my BW) Turn 4: land + Tribute to the World Tree (Salty blows up my TttWT) and proceeds to accuse my of trying to "pub-stomp".
I was really confused and pushed back that nothing I had done was pub stompy. (All my lands were basics, command tower, or cheap duals). In response, he said that I was going to use my commander to haste out a creature and kill everyone.
I was just dumbfounded. Am I crazy, or is haste-ing out big scary creatures and winning through combat damage not a fair strategy, or is this dude just paranoid and mad that his simic deck was mana screwed in the early game?
