Beginner advice?

Hi Reddit! My boyfriend and I have both agreed that we want to try diving, we hate how much goes to waste, plus we both think it’d be cool to hunt for stuff :) That being said, we don’t know anything about it! I don’t even know if we could get in trouble for diving, and every time I try to look it up I don’t get any straight answers from google 😅 So.. does anyone have any beginner recommendations, or a way to know of we could get in trouble for it? Thank you!!
