is the trendsetter curse a thing?

i’ve noticed in regular servers if i use the trendsetter dress, even styling it well, people don’t tend to vote for you. is it jealousy? fear you’ll win? do they think “oh well she’s already trendsetter she doesn’t need any votes.” i LOVE that dress and worked so hard to get it.
