You can fish anywhere?!

As in, no need for ripples, just cast and catch. Learned it after struggling to get Here and There fish, and it gives an obscene amount of easy seaweed. If only the game has let me know this before I suffered through the lack of fiber in the first few in-game days.

So does everybody else know it or was it just me? Why does the game guide not mention this at all?
