Why Can'T My Name Be Two Letters?

So I'm gender-fluid and tend to switch between two names. I didn't want to stick with one name for my character and decided to use my family nickname. However, I don't like how it's spelled so I wanted to use two letters instead (I wanted to use BD as my character name). But the game said I can't do that. Why can't my character's name be only two letters long?
