DDON Lore: What are Dragonkin?

This has been a question that has bothered me in terms of lore, as I went through and played Dragon’s Dogma Online. In the original game (and maybe this applies to the second game as well), Dragonkin were Arisen who failed in their journey to slay the Dragon… but DDON’s story doesn’t really allow that to make sense, considering the Arisen are servants of the White Dragon and all that.

We really need a Vaati or a Smoughtown for this community.
