Why it was never about the ‘terminology’

“Oh, we don’t mind that there’s a non-binary character in the game, we just don’t like that they use such modern terminology in a fantasy game. It takes us out of the immersion!”

Let me tell you why that’s bull.

Here’s how a normal, sane, rational person would react to hearing a modern term like ‘non-binary’ in a fantasy setting.

“Huh, that’s a little weird.”

And then they move on with their lives.

So the fact that so many are reacting with such vitriol and passion tells me that this goes far beyond the terminology itself.
