Thoughts on dog parks/ dog lakes?

So my in-laws watch our dog roughly every 3-4 weeks on the weekends and without asking early on they brought her to a dog park. I’ve grown up in an anti dog park family, as I’ve heard countless horror stories. This is my bf and my “first” dog outside of parents dogs, so it’s obviously been a learning process but I’ve been trying to do everything right as I 1) want the world for her 2) don’t want 15 years of a terror. I’ve grown to be okay with it as she is very social but will put herself on the sidelines when she’s overwhelmed and just watches the other dogs. I still have a background fear that something will happen, but overall I’m okay enough to let her go, especially because I’m so grateful for the help while we work 3rd shift. Recently his mom brought up this new park that she heard about from someone else at the dp that has a dog friendly lake in the summer. My gut immediately said NOPE! But I’m also interested in other opinions as maybe I’m overreacting. My worry stems mainly from bacteria and dry drowning. She’s also never experienced a body of water bigger than a shower scrub. If anything I’d bring her to a local swimming pool/ doc jump for dogs that does a dual swim and requires life jackets first, but I’m still uneasy. Any and all advice is super appreciated- even if it may seem controversial- I want it all! She’s ~7mo pit/am bulldog/ great pyr/ hearding dog mix, 48#, lovesss to run around and wrestle (which is also why I feel guilty being so reluctant with dog parks).
