Inflamed and hairless wound on my dog, can this be treated with medication or should I take him to the vet?
Hi, I have an 11-year-old dog with a wound that has been there for months and hasn’t healed. It’s circular, hairless around it, and inflamed, sticking out. I’ve been cleaning it regularly, but it hasn’t improved. It doesn’t have pus or a bad smell, but it remains inflamed. My question is, is this something that could be treated with medication at home, like topical antibiotics or something similar, or should I take him to the vet? Veterinary costs are high in my area, so I’m trying to figure out if this is something I can manage on my own or if professional care is necessary. Thanks in advance for any advice.
