Aslam Bhai Perfumes : Rookies View

Like I've said earlier on a few posts, I'm no perfume expert. I'm beginning to get into this happy and beginning to understand the nuances gradually.

I've always owned OGs of Vercase Pour Homme, Spicebomb Extreme and Tobacco Vanille. As I got into this hobby and started consuming opinion from this sub reddit, I started experimenting with ME brands and other clone houses like Scentedelic, Follow Me Perfumes, Muzna and Mavin over the past 7-8 months. In that same spirit, gave Aslam Bhai Perfumes a shot.

Right off the bat, these are potent! I own a full bottle of Dior Homme Intense and a 50ml of GRP, so my logic has been to try clones of only those fragrances that I have the OGs of. Makes the comparison more relevant, is what I feel.

From the fragrances point of view, these are nuclear immediately out of the box. Way more than the OGs are.

  1. Dior Homme Intense : They nailed it on the opening and the dry down. As someone with an untrained nose, and someone that doesn't really sniff the fragrance every 5 minutes to note changes; I probably just miss the mids for the most part. The opening is spot on, but way louder than the OG. As it approaches the dry down, the scents smell extremely similar too but I get a little more musk from Aslam Bhai for sure. Projects loudly for about 2 odd hours. Go easy with the sprays. I went noseblind, but my teammates in the office could smell is across a good distance for the first 2 hours. The scent bubble remains with you and I could get whiff of it from my wrists and shirt sleeve almost all through the work day. No brainer at 1200 bucks.

Gentleman Reserve Privee : Again, they nailed the opening. This one projects way more in distance, is what I'm told by others around me. The scent is extremely difficult to tell apart in the dry down, except the OG gives me a little more nutty feel all through. But at this point, the difference is miniscule and it could also be because I'm on my 6th bottle of the OG through the decade. So could be my personal bias as well. This one will make you go noseblind almost immediately, which the OG does not, for the most part. Project similar to the DHI, for a good 2 hours. The scent bubble is stronger on this. I get whiffs of this all through my day. My Uber driver asked me about the perfume on my way home after a full day at work. I couldn't smell it, but he could. So there's that.

Overall, at 1200 bucks a pop, these are incredible value for money. The differences between this and the OG exist, but are too subtle. The price to scent ratio is actually pretty amazing on these. I like the way they smell more than a few of the ME clones I have. The ME brands tend to have a very distinct woody, oudy dry down for the most part, atleast to my nose. I like it, personally, but these do not have that specific trait. Just something you might want to consider.

To wrap it up, I'm definitely trying a few more from Aslam Bhai. These are absolutely great VFM!

Happy to answer questions to the best of my ability, if anyone has any. :)
