Question regarding fume knight

Hi there first time facing him, been preparing farming consumables and stuff, i'm full melee not using Magic. Have 2 question

1- Should i infuse My weapon with electricity? Have a Lot of gold pine resin and saw a lot of people using electricity weapon on him.

2- What consumables make him not able to Enter second phase? Supossedly if You keep healing in front of him he strikes and his blade keeps glowing for 20 seca but read somewhere that other consumables that doesnt heal You also work like bombs, is that true? Does throwing bombs to him works?
