Dacia Jogger Hybrid 2024

My experience after owning it for a few days.

I have been looker for a proper review of this car and there were a few questions that i haven't found answers for.

First of all the car as a package is brilliant, ride quality is very good but there is a little bit of road and wind noise which is normal for the price it costs. What must also be mentioned is how well it grips even with some very spirited driving, at some point it does understeer but that's to be expected. Interior quality on the extreme trim is also fine because most of it consist of hard plastics which are easy to maintain.

The stereo speakers aren't good enough for my taste so I'll be replacing them with some aftermarket JBL speakers. Trunk space and legroom in the back are good and the seating position in front should be fine even for taller people.

Now for the hybrid drivetrain it's good and bad the same time, pulling away having immediate torque low down is really great. The car also has more than adequate power to pull out of junctions faster than most other normal cars on the road. The shifts are pretty slow sometimes and the gearbox does get confused if you try to drive it like a racecar (but that's not the point of this car in anyways). I did end up putting in a K&N air filter which has given the engine a better sound and response when it does redline on itself after making a confusing downshift 🤣.

The hybrid system overall is pretty smooth for everyday driving though and fuel consumption for city driving is 5.7L/100km if you have a heavy foot like me but it's possible to get it under 5.0L/100km if you drive it normally. Commuting at around 100km/h on regular roads still yields a consumption of around 6.2-7L per 100km which is still acceptable. When thrashing it uphill on long straights and the battery gets depleted the engine has to work alone and performance is reduced slightly. Although after coming off the throttle slightly for a short time the engine will charge the battery back up to give you more performance from the electric motor.

EV mode comes on quite oftent even saw Ev mode at 110km/h a few times, it switches between Ev and the combustion engine pretty flawlessly.

Altogether i love the car for what it is and it's just an easy and comfortable way to commute, even if there are a few downsides. I'd actually go so far as to say that i would buy the car again if i had to. As for reliability only time will tell, only has 5000km on at this point. I'll post something again after a few months to give an update on the short term ownership.
