The B List Stories

So I've been reading DC comics for about a year and have read some of the classics, TDKR, All Star Superman, Batman Year One, Killing Joke, Long Halloween, Longbow Hunters, Hush etc.

I've heard about all these comics that everyone recommends, Quiver, Red Son, The Hikeitia and so on. But I'd like to know the runs or stories that fly under the radar and show off the lesser known characters, those that wouldn't be on a lunch box.

Examples I have been recommended and plan on checking out include Justice League International, Gotham Central and 52. I also want to check out Chuck Dixons Nightwing and Robin, Grant Morrisons Animal Man and James Robinsons Star Man. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.
