NEVER rent from PJ apartments

I'm very meticulous about my monthly rent, I always mail the check through my bank so it arrives 5+ days before it's due and I make sure they cash it within 2 weeks, or else I email them to confirm they received it.

Today they emailed me saying "You're behind on rent $xxx (amt of one month) please send it in immediately", no context, no reference to a certain month, no asking me to check if I sent it, I go through my bank statements & every month's check has been CASHED (including March's), when I respond telling them that and ask which month they're missing they don't respond.

Multiple other people I know who rent from PJ apartments in other units had the same copy and pasted email sent to them and they haven't missed payments. It seems like they're fishing for extra money from people who don't keep track.

Not to mention the tons of other issues I've had with them (apt visibly dirty with trash from previous tenants still there when I moved in, a gas leak and broken wifi when I moved in, employees just coming into my room during tours even though I email beforehand that I have a zoom class during the tour window and don't want people in my room, ...).

Frankly, I don't care if the rent thing was an "honest mistake," my rent has NOT ONCE been even remotely late and they should double-check before accusing me and telling me to immediately send them money I don't owe, and then not even provide an ounce of proof when I ask for it.
