What is Ideal Balance?

With how much discussion you get bombarded with about team compositions, current meta, 5v5 vs 6v6, and broken heroes, what does ideal balance in OW actually look like? What has been the most balanced and enjoyable OW has been in its history?

I feel like this should be the primary thought process and goal when discusses heroes and metas. For someone who's only played OW2 and mostly sees OW1 through old OWL clips and highlight montages, I would think a most balanced state would be where Map picks largely determine team comps over a hard meta (ex. Winston Dive mirrors on Gibraltar over Orisa, Juno, Brig mirrors every map is good and interesting because throughout a match teams will try new things). With of course player individual character strengths providing flexibility for comps.

Of course feel free to disagree and share what you think the most balanced versions of OW have been and what the optimal balance state looks like!

TLDR: I think the optimal balance state allows for certain comps and heroes to be strong on their set of maps, and unhealthy states give us drawn out mirror matchups that get stale quick from a viewers perspective (ex. Mauga meta, Orisa meta)
