Pivot out of Operations - Seeking Career Recommendations

I’m a Facilities Manager for a well known tech company and currently oversee 1 million sqft of Class A office space. I’ve been in this field for twelve years and manage budgets up to 6 million annually including capex and operations. I have fairly good soft skills and I’m more of a strategic thinker, process improver and less of a math person, though obviously I can manage a complex budget I see my strengths in the former. I have a Project Managment certificate and Bachelors in Urban Studies & Planning. I start my two year Masters in Real Estate program in a few weeks. It will be 33 credits and cover the basics of commercial real estate and my electives will focus on development.

When you think about the lifecycle of a building, it starts with planning, design, finance —>then construction, commissioning —> and finally handover to operations. Sometimes a building will require a major rehab and the building lifecycle starts over again. As a Facilities Manager I am mainly involved in the operations part of the building lifecycle though I do sit in on design, planning and construction meetings. I am also a main stakeholder in the commissioning phase before the keys to the building are handed over to me.

I am interested in pivoting out of the operations side of the building lifecycle. I’d like to stay working in the tech industry because it’s fun and fast paced, but I’m open to options.

When I am done with my Masters what good paying roles do you think would be a good fit for me? (Living in the Bay Area is expensive so I need to aim high)
