Trick or treating for adults?

Hi, 32F here wanting to go dress up and go trick or treating for the first time ever (parents wouldn't allow it growing up), and want to know if there's any places still doing it in a safe and fun manner. My boyfriend says that nobody does it anymore because people pf all the stuff thats happened the past few yeats but I just want to end up not staying home on Halloween (and free candy). Any suggestions?

Update: he has to work halloween night but there's still the zoo and rosewood area. As long as I have something to defend myself and can find myself back to the main roads downtown I should he good in my own. I also accept free donations of your unwanted candy corn
