How do I inform Buddhist parents that I'm Christian?
My parents are Theraveda Buddhists, and as such they worship false idols, and I never believed in it. From a young age, I told them I was atheist, but that did not stop them from forcing me to bow down to false idols, and perform rituals. I went along with it, but at times they would strongly force it on me, like when a relative died they expected me to shave all my hair to become a "monk". Luckily I was spared this due to some circumstance within the pagan temple.
Over the last few months, The Holy Spirit has been guiding me toward Jesus, and I've ordered a Bible online. If everything goes to plan, when my mother gets the package she'll ask me what's in it, and I'll state it's a Bible, and that I have faith in Christ.
I expect her to be ambivalent, as there's no temple close by for her to worship in, so she's more lenient in her beliefs. But my father and extended family are another story. When we visit them they force me to go plenty of temples, and I really do not want to bow down in front of idols, as that goes against my faith, and they are likely to not take my confirmation of faith seriously. I've prayed to the Lord about this. Do you have any suggestions for what to do, and how to approach things?
