🧡🧡Rémy update!!🧡🧡 first ringworm dip/bath!
Over the weekend I posted about Rémy and his worsening ringworm. I was in a pretty bad place because he just kept losing fur and we didn’t have the budget for lots of back and forth with the vet esp when he was only getting worse.
First of all, I want to say thank you so much to everyone of you who helped us with his vet bills. The amount of kindness and empathy on this sub is absolutely unparalleled. I honestly was not expecting nearly as much help or advice as we received. We are so thankful to those who had something to give to help us out, and also those who liked the post so it could be seen, and gave us advice to get him the correct medical treatment. You guys completely came through for us and my husband, Rémy and I are so grateful. Thank you for being such kind humans- your help and empathy means more than we can express. ❤️
Rémy went to a different vet today who took the issue a lot more seriously. He’s doing dip treatments now (which a lot of you correctly suggested he should have received from the beginning). I also got some great recommendations for some moisturizing anti fungal gel which we’ve got if some spots stay persistent after his 12 day treatment. Hopefully with the dip treatment no more new spots will appear. The little gremlin was purring throughout the whole “bathing” process 😭🥺 hopefully this really makes a difference for him. He’s currently sat drying on my lap in a towel. There is the option of oral medication but the vet requested we wait as she thought it could be tough on his system.
Initially, due to how we were budgeting his care, we were going to have to somewhat space out his treatments. With your help, he is now booked to get neutered, vaccinated and microchipped on Jan 22 (with some vaccines happening after he’s healed from the neutering). I didn’t want to deal with ringworm and persistent cone as he has a patch under his neck, that’s why it’s a bit late. If that hasn’t healed, we’ll have to push the neutering back, so fingers crossed. The vaccinations are super important because we live with a senior cat with FHV- ticking this box in particular is really essential, and again, we’re so grateful.
As he’ll be in quarantine for the next 2 weeks, and then needing to be away from the other animals once he’s fixed, with your help as a treat we got him a little hammock to look out the window and he’s so pleased looking outside and judging birds and squirrels (and then he can turn around to judge us) 😂
Thank you all 🧡
