The reason people are mad and why it’s justified
A lot of people on here are defending CapCut saying it’s their right to charge for a good editing software. I do agree it’s within their right to profit off of a good product, however, I want to point out that people’s frustrations are absolutely justified.
CapCut gained traction and a user base because it was free. The reason it’s gotten so big and successful is because its free 99 price tag heavily incentivized its usage over any other editing software.
Now that it gained its user base, it all of the sudden wants to withdraw all of the perks that made it popular in the first place. If CapCut wasn’t free from the jump, it currently, wouldn’t have any backlash but it also wouldn’t have gained the success it has today.
That’s why it’s normal to feel cheated. For example, I invested all my time learning how to use CapCut to optimize my video editing efficiently. Now with all the pay to use features (including a watermark?!), I’m going to have to invest my time into learning another editing software. If it were pay to use from the jump I wouldn’t have invested time and effort into learning how to use it in the first place.
It’s not about the $10 a month price tag, most of us can afford that. It’s the feeling of being baited and switched on that annoys me.
