Considering joining my local reserve unit - pros and cons?

Hello beautiful reliable creatures of Reddit,

I’m located in Barrie, Ontario and considering joining one of the local reserve units. There is The Grey and Simcoe Foresters infantry unit, or the 400 Tactical Helicopter Squadron in Borden. Anybody have any insight on either options? I work as a career Firefighter, so I have a decent amount of time off. I’ve always had an itch to serve and get involved.
