Georgia Licensure Application Timeline

Catlady (aka the girl who started the Google Sheet eye ball tracker idea) checking in!

I'm posting this more for the sake of it being accessible for future applicants to be able to find when trying to research their own application process. Info was pretty slim, and I only found one post similar to this for Georgia, and it was on the another71 sub and a couple years old at this point. Georgia is one of the few states that NASBA handles the licensure application process, so results of course may vary by state. Below is the timeline from when I submitted my application through me being approved for licensure.

12/13/2021 - Submitted licensure application. I sent my transcripts via Parchment the same day.

12/14/2021 - transcript #1, sent via Parchment, received by NASBA

12/19/2021 - transcript #2, sent via Parchment, received by NASBA

01/06/2022 - Since I still hadn't heard from NASBA, despite the website saying I should hear back within two weeks regarding my documents (I gave them a little extra time bc of the holidays and spike in Covid cases), I emailed them and asked if they were needing any additional documents from me at that point. They emailed back on 01/07/2022 saying, "Your application is at the evaluate status."

01/13/2022 - Email from NASBA - "The initial evaluation of your application is complete and your file is being sent to our Quality Assurance department for review. Please allow 10 business days for the quality assurance review."

01/14/2022 - Email from NASBA - "Status Update: The Quality Assurance review of your application and supporting documentation is still in process."

01/19/2022 - Email from NASBA - "Status Update: The Quality Assurance review of your application and supporting documentation is still in process."

01/21/2022 10:10 am - Email from NASBA "Your application has been found eligible for licensure by NASBA and has been presented to the Board of Accountancy for final approval."

01/21/2022 11:04 am - Email from NASBA "On behalf of the Board of Accountancy, the National State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) is pleased to inform you that your application has been approved."

Around this time, I was able to view my license number on the NASBA website, mycpalicense.org, and my name was listed on CPAVerify. I ordered my certificate the same day, and am now waiting on it. I ordered the matching frame and wallet-sized certificate as well, and website said I should have my order in 2-4 weeks. Shoutout to Georgia for making me pay an additional $50 to have an official piece of paper saying I'm a CPA. I think a portion of my paycheck should be directed to NASBA at this point. I'm not sure if I'm getting any type of mailed letter from my state board/NASBA.

Happy to say that I'm officially CatLadyAccountant, CPA. Only took 18 months, nine exams taken, five failed exams, and 18 credit hours of misc classes from the local university over the span of two semesters to get to 150, all while working full-time. Having the community on this sub to celebrate the wins and empathize with the losses has been so incredible and beneficial to morale.

To celebrate being done, I finally bought a roundtrip plane ticket to Ireland for my long-awaited solo backpacking trip, and I'll be exploring the UK and Ireland for two weeks this spring. :) Of course, in classic style for me, I'm already looking into earning my CFF, which I can now pursue as a CPA.

Best of luck to everyone still grinding on exams and/or waiting for their license!
