Charlie girl
Here’s our 8 year old girl Charlie (Charles, Warles, Tub Tub). She had skin issues from year 5 on. She had a super tight corkscrew tail that we had amputated to get her off the constant rounds of antibiotics. The surgery was about a year ago. Since then she’s been doing really good except her general skin infections are returning. Our vet that we loved (and had bulldogs of his own) no longer is at the vet office and the new vet there isn’t familiar with bulldogs. The treatments she’s been giving don’t seem to stick. Currently she’s on a diet of Instinct (Raw Coated, Grain Free, Beef) which we’ve never had problems with. It’s the only food free of some of her major allergens; brewers yeast, pork, oatmeal. Our last few vet visits the vet has done a skin scraping and put her on a steroid and medicated shampoo. However, she’s not reacting well to the steroid and it seems to be exacerbating her anxiety at night. I think she’s showing signs of sun downing. She’s always been very quiet but she barks at the bedroom door if it’s closed and is only happy if she can sit in our bedroom and pant loudly. She won’t sleep at night anymore. It seems to start around 5/6 pm that she’s wired and the steroid has made it worse.
Any suggestions? I’m going to try and get us into a dermatologist, but wondering if there’s anything else we can do!
