Looking for recommendations on a bar with a super old school Brooklyn vibe
My dad is an Italian/Irish Jew from Ditmas Park and is reaching his twilight days 🥺 It is my birthday this Saturday! and we are very fortunate that we can spend this day with him not confined to a facility (I’m a nurse and he’s doing great currently) but he has been constantly asking us to take him to his favorite bar from “the old neighborhood.” Only problem is that we don’t know which bar he means and we can’t take him all the way out there so we are looking for places we can get to more easily from the east side of manhattan! The only caveat is no stairs since he uses a walker, and there needs to be space enough for about 10 people. Anywhere that you walk in and you think “this looks like a scene from a movie about New York in the ___’s (insert almost any decade because he’s been alive since the 30s!)” is perfect. Including a photo of my parents because they met at Studio 54 and that’s metal. Thanks so much for your help and happy Lunar New Year to all who celebrate 🥰🥰
