RENT kids

Do they still exist? I remember that sometime between middle and high school, I and every theatre kid I knew, had their own approx. 3-24 month long OBSESSION with RENT. Knew every lyric and harmony, deep dived for “insider” info, threw Jonathan Larson in the thank you section of their bio, etc.

Does that phenomenon still exist? Has it moved on to a Hamilton phase for today’s teens? Not trying to ask if RENT is still popular in general, rather, is it still that kind of rite of passage?
