"It was easier to kick you while you're down then to wait until you're back up to knock you down again"
A slight reflection post but this is what my ex told me in the car as she decided to bring up the fact that she wanted to move out and possibly break up with me after 4 years of dating.
It was only a little over 2 months ago now but I was having a mental breakdown while she was driving with me in the car. Our best friends who were also together for 4 years had broken up a few weeks prior and I was also facing my hardest time ever in college as a senior who was at risk of losing his scholarships and being removed from my college.
While breaking down crying in front of her which was something I seldomly did she took the opportunity to tell me that exact phrase in the middle of my breakdown after telling me she was thinking about leaving.
I don't see why she decided to leave me at my emotional lowest and why she believed it was better to leave me and hop into a rebound fwb relationship but I supposed she must have had it planned out in advance and was just waiting for her opportunity to leave and saw that as a good time. Was that phrase she used really true though? Because her leaving at such a bad time for me has made this breakup all the worse to get over.
