The usb-c hub needs screen constantly ON or I'm missing something?

I have a RD280U and when my macbook goes sleep (30 minutes), my screen turns off. That's intended, but why the usb-c hub disconnects? that's stupid, it's disconnecting my hard drives all the time without properly ejecting them
