Can the Xenyx Q802USB mixer be used as an audio interface?

Hi all. I’m a complete beginner. I’m such a beginner that I tried to look this up online and couldn’t find a straight answer.

I already own a Xenyx Q802USB Mixer and Cubase (elements).

I was told by my son’s music teacher that I need to buy him an audio interface.

My question is, can this mixer be the audio interface? The box says it’s a USB audio interface so I’m guessing… Yes?

If anyone could give me a straight ELI5 answer i’d appreciate it. I’m an old fart (40m) trying to help my son get into music production and would really appreciate any help but don’t go into too much detail just yet because I won’t understand…

Edit: why not just ask his music teacher? Coz he only has lessons twice a month so we wont see him for 2 weeks; also he’s from a different country and his English is very limited (and I don’t speak his language) so it’s difficult to ask him intricate/involved questions. This is why I have posted this question here. Thank you.
