Can my husband file bankruptcy to deal with the debts in his name without affecting my credit, or do we have to file together since we’re married?

TL;DR - Husband and I are still happily married, not separated, however he has some debts that we have been putting off dealing with. His credit already sucks and mine is fair/average, but I’d rather not have the bankruptcy on my credit report. Can he file without including me?

Husband and I both have what I would describe as a mountain of debt, but I think I am able to deal with my personal debt. His debt, however, I just don’t know how we could afford to pay for. He had a car repossession a while ago and we received a letter today with the deficiency balance (still within statute of limitations for our state). He owes $11k for the car that was repossessed. He also has $3k in credit card debt and has been sent to collections for about $500 related to a few small debts. The price of daycare for an infant is as much as a mortgage payment, so he is a SAHD. Both of our names are on the title of our home, but he otherwise has no other assets. Both of our cars are in my name. I have a 403(b) but he does not have kind of retirement or savings. Can he file for the debts in just his name without it affecting my credit?

I will add that I do also have $32k in credit card debt in addition to student loans, a small car loan, and a mortgage. However, I have a plan in place to deal with my debt. My student loans are in forbearance for the SAVE plan so I’m not currently paying on them, but I work for a nonprofit and should qualify for PSLF in about 7 years. Aside from the mortgage, I am able to pay more than the minimum payment for the car and credit cards. I have a $7k CD that matures in February that I will apply to the debt, and I will apply my tax return next year to it. My oldest attends a private school that is quite expensive but next year we will put her in a different school that accepts the Choice Scholarship and will therefore be a lot cheaper, so I’ll have even more cash flow per month to apply to the remaining debt. But we’re gonna let her finish out the current school year where she is at. So based on that I just don’t think it’s necessary to try to discharge my credit card debt when I think I’ll be able to pay it off over time. Same with the car loan. But I don’t know how I could pay off my husband’s debt in addition to my own.

Please be gentle with responses. We are overwhelmed with everything today after receiving the deficiency balance letter.
