PSA: Dame is a title, not a name
I've seen a lot of folks refer to Dame Aylin simply as "Dame," which struck me as odd until I realized many folks might not realize the word Dame is the feminine equivalent of the word Sir. (In this case, denoting someone specifically as a knight)
This is understandable, as the word has a) become somewhat antiquated, b) the game uses the gender-neutral saer to refer to most nobles/knights/etc and c) her name "Aylin" is a mononym, meaning she has no last name, so people assume Dame is a first name and Aylin is a last name. (which isn't the case. Aylin has no "family name" just like her mother Selûne, or Gale's ex, Mystra).
In the interest of being hopefully educational to those who might read this, her name is Aylin, her title is Dame. If you refer to her simply by saying "Dame landed a crit," it's as linguistically awkward as saying "General took 80 damage from a crit" when referring to General Ketheric Thorm.
Please don't take this as criticism or me trying to rag on people, I just hope this post might be a good learning opportunity 🙂
Edit: I've seen a lot of folks in the comments making fun of folks who didn't know this word. If you see a post where someone is trying to spread knowledge and use it to make fun of people, you are part of the problem. People do not learn things because you mock them for not knowing. They learn because you share the knowledge you have and help build up your community. Shame on you for assuming that people who have made a completely harmless mistake (slightly awkward grammar) are somehow worthy of your ridicule.
Edit 2: I'm learning that apparently "Dame" is a nickname for Damian. I've never seen that before. You learn something new every day. That said, my general point still stands as it's clear that Aylin's first name is not actually "Damian" lol.
