I feel like ya'll lied about Act 3...

So much of the conversation I saw about Act 3 was that it was rushed, it didn't feel as "complete" as acts 1 or 2, and that it overall just didn't measure up.

I honestly feel like Act 3 was borderline overwhelmingly large, and it was stuffed with encounters, some of which were uniquely challenging. Giving characters their pinnacle story moments with exciting fights just made for a ton of exciting content. Off the top of my head, my favorites were:

  • Cazador
  • House of Grief
  • House of Hope (GOTDAMN)
  • Ethel
  • THE FUGGIN SUBMARINE ESCAPE HEIST
  • Ironworks
  • Temple of Bhaal
  • The whole damn palace where Gortash is hangin' out

I do think Act 2 has strong narrative flow with Moonrise being a great central narrative focal point (and Ketheric is compelling AF as a villain), but in terms of the amount of exciting stuff to do... I think Act 3 just has it all beat. Better fights, exciting story conclusions, and all around just a crap ton of stuff to find.

Beyond that, I really enjoyed the ending sequence. It ties up a few things nicely, and leaves a lot of opportunity for more down the line (fighting devils in Avernus forever with Karlach should just be its own DLC let's be honest. The only correct choice there).

Overall, I'm really happy with Act 3. It's just full of stuff. I may still prefer the Underdark in Act 1 and the Creche in Act 2 to most things in Act 3, but the way people talked about it, you'd think Act 3 was a raging dumpster fire.

Was it really just that different at launch? Am I getting a better experience because I'm slow to finish, or was Act 3 really just this good all along?
