Charging options
I live in NYC, and it seems like the electrify America chargers near me within 10 miles are always full and have a long line to wait before even getting access to a charger. My workplace has free charging so during the work week charging is of no issue to me. However during the weekend or extended periods of off I need to charge the cars, but my options are limited.
I am thinking whether I should hire an electrician to set up a NEMA 14-50 for level 2 charging at my house and/or find Tesla superchargers. I believe that the adapter for BMW is not out yet for level 3 charging at Tesla stations. I’ve heard that some Tesla stations have a magic deck where they have CCS1 chargers as well, but how does it work. Please let me know if anyone has advice on whether I should hire an electrician and/or try to use Tesla stations. Also, I may need to go to an electrify America station overnight or odd times to get charging when I’m off.
