Rythmia a cult? Follow up post
A few weeks ago there was a long post about Rythmia being a cult. This was roughly a week before I was supposed go there. Had me freaked out plus the vice article. I said I would report back on my experience to see if the claims matched the experience.
Short answer is no. Working there may be a whole different experience but as far as people like us who aren’t working there, I’d give it a 2/10 for being culty if 10/10 was the most culty. Only reason I give it a 2 is because they show a video to and from the airport from the owner and that for whatever reason gave me culty vibes. To be fair the information was helpful but just coming off the plane being a little nervous and driving an hour in the jungle with that video playing just reminds me of the start of horror movies. Feel bad saying it but its kinda true.
I had an incredible experience on the medicine. The ceremonies were BEAUTIFUL. Only exception to that was the Yage ceremony, which for me was painful nausea 90% of the ceremony. Otherwise, I was in awe and felt transformed after each ceremony. We had 80 people in a our group. I was terrified when they said they only had 6 bathrooms for all of us to share. I imagined having to shit in a bush at some point. Surprisingly wasn’t an issue. Turns out poos don’t take so long when it’s straight liquid coming out. We had a embrace the feminine night that was probably my favorite one. Im a guy btw, not sure if that matters. I liked all the shamans but our shaman for that night was so impressive. She put together the most beautiful ceremony. The music, the flow, everything was perfect. My god they made us feel humble gratitude to be alive, introduced us to god, and then made us excited to live. Every night I came away thinking that this experience is so powerful and this medicine is so other worldly that it’s hard to believe it’s real. That we can experience something so godlike in heavenly. I came away transformed. I ended up loving the large group. If you’re an introvert who know how’d you feel but I loved having so many people to hear about their experiences and the energy it brought when we all started dancing. Made so many friends and connections. I had at one point considered canceling my trip from all the bad posts and press. It’s a lot of money and time and I didn’t want it to be wasted. I’m glad I went. 10/10. Good food, beautiful everything, great amenities. All the classes were super helpful. The Dead Sea cleanse. Basically a hose up your ass to force you to have diarrhea for 40 minutes was so gross. The smell got to me. I had to cancel my second one. No matter where you go, if you’re ready you should experience ayahuasca. You can never be the same after. It alters you forever in the most beautiful way. So sacred and so powerful. God bless these people for preserving these traditions and for being willing to share it with people outside their culture.
