Super short attention span
My 9yo still seems to have a super short attention span. Like she could see me coming and run up to greet me and then on the way get distracted by something (the dog lounging around, a doll that's been lying there the whole day, her brother watching a video or whatever) and just ... beeline onto whatever is next. Or we are playing football and every 10 seconds she picks up the ball and I have to remind her to put it down and then she does. The same goes for most other activities, therapies and even school, she doesn't seem to be able really participate in an activity for more than like 20 seconds before she gets distracted and needs to be redirected to whatever she was doing.
She can in general follow directions fairly well and understands well but really I have to remind her every 10 seconds or she forgets.
There are a few exceptions, like a few shows (especially she watches certain documentaries about animal babies over and over), playing with the dog or babies, though even then she keeps bothering them by running around and constantly changing what she's doing.
Is this normal? Or should we take her for further evaluations? her therapists are saying it's somewhat common in children with asd
