So I made a mistake…
I need to vent because I feel so stupid. I thought I had good financial literacy.
I put a $1000 deposit on a new car at a dealership over the weekend. I have been wanting to buy a new car for a while now. My partner and I share a car & I wanted to make things easier for us, as I need the car full time for work.
After looking at the car finance repayments, I decided it was not a good idea financially right now. Yes, in hindsight I should have looked at this beforehand, but it was my dream car! Anyway, I decided not to go ahead with the purchase & continue to save.
I called the dealership on Monday & as the deposit was subject to finance, they said I can have a refund of the $1000 deposit. I sent an email as they requested with my bank details. I’m a pretty impatient human (as you can probs already tell) and getting frustrated that the refund hasn’t been processed yet. $1000 is a lot of money to loose. I think I’ll give them until the end of the week & then follow up again. But I’m worried they will change their mind or worse not respond.
Thanks for being apart of the journey. I’m feeling really disappointed in myself. Also, before anyone goes at me - I know buying a car outright is best, it’s a depreciating asset etc etc but here I am!
EDIT: spelling & no $1k isn’t breaking the bank! It’s more me being extremely impatient. But yes, I will cool my jets & wait!
