Prednisone and rabies shot in cat

Please help - my cat is on prednisone for IBS and the vet gave him his rabies shot even though where we used to live indoor cats do not have to have them. He has been progressively sick for weeks. I’m taking him to the vet tomorrow, but how bad is this?
