Are lockdown drills now normal in secondary schools?

Today my daughters school (11 - 18 years olds) had a lockdown drill. An alarm went off, teacher had to lock the classroom doors, turn off the lights and the kids had to get under their desks and wait in silence.

Is that a normal thing in secondary schools now?
